The Oswego State men's basketball team is back on track, earning a 70-59 win against Potsdam on the road Saturday afternoon. This win gives the team a record of 10-4 overall and 6-1 in the SUNYAC. Potsdam moves to 2-10 on the season and 1-5 in the conference.
The first half was controlled completely by the Lakers, only allowing the Bears to take the lead once, just 1:28 into the game. After that though, the Lakers put the pedal to the metal and never looked back. Sortino was the big offensive threat through the first 20 minutes, going 5-7 from the field and scoring 11 points. Oswego would end up taking a 34-21 lead into the locker room at half.
The second have didn't prove to be much different, as the Lakers continued to knock down shots and maintain a comfortable lead. The Bears attempted a comeback with a little under five minutes to go in the game, but their attack was thwarted as Alex Rawa knocked in a three to put the lead back to double digits.
Rashawn Powell finished the game just one rebound shy of double-double and also had a team leading 15 points. Brian Sortino filled in the stat sheet, racking up 13 points and fetching six rebounds. Walter Sampson recorded double-digit points as well scoring 14, including going a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe.
Men's basketball will return to the court at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday as it hosts the Brockport Golden Eagles
