
The Oswego State men's swimming and diving team collected 104 team points on its way to finishing the first complete day of competition at the SUNYAC Championships in sixth place. Thursday's events were held at Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center.
Oswego got off to a hot start in just the second event, claiming fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay.Austin Nau, Zachary Gerber, Sanjay Raman and Alex Kemper joined together to nab 30 points in a time of 1:26.30.
In the fourth event, the 500-yard free, Aidan Meehan tallied two more points of the Lakers with a 15ht place finish, touching the wall at 4:58.39. Jacob Mullet then tacked on 14 points two events later, finishing fifth place in the 200-yard IM (1:58.72).
Gerber and Nau ended in 11th and 12th place, respectively, in the 50-yard free, combining for 11 points. For the 400-yard medley relay, Nau, Mullet, Raman and Gerber teamed up for 24 points with a seventh place performance. The group completed the 400 yards in a time of 3:36.03.
Oswego's diving core rounded out the scoring on the day, as Justin Berrios, Ben Hale and Luke Snyder all scored for the squad. Berrios, competing in the 'A' final, claimed seventh place for 12 points with a score of 411.55. In the 'B' group, Hale took 10th place while Snyder took 13th, adding up to 11 points towards the team score.
The Lakers will dive back in at 10 a.m. on Friday for day two of the SUNYAC Championships.
