News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Oswego Baseball Opens Season with Split at Wesley

    OS Baseball The Oswego State baseball team opened its season with a split at Wesley College, losing the first game 5-0 before regrouping for a 7-6 victory in the second contest. With the split, Oswego is 1-1 on the year and will play at Wesley again at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday but this time will face New Jersey City University.

GAME ONE – Wesley 5, Oswego 0:

     Wesley's pitching staff scattered six Laker hits over the seven innings, including its starter who allowed no runs or walks. Scott Buniak did his best to try and will Oswego to win, going 3-for-3 at the plate including a double. Also finishing with hits for the squad were Tim Smith, Michael Mascari and Dan Karleski.

     Brendyn Karinchak earned the start in the game, lasting 3.1 innings, allowing five runs, four of which were earned, on seven hits. Karinchak struck out two batters during his outing. Tim Cronin relieved his teammate, throwing 2.2 innings of three-hit baseball without surrendering a run. Cronine fanned one batter in his nearly three innings of work.

GAME TWO – Oswego 7, Wesley 6:

     After coming out flat in the first game, Oswego's bats came alive in the second. With five runs in the third, they jumped out to an early lead with multiple hits from Mike McMullen, Eric Hamilton, and Mascari. For Oswego, the fourth inning presented problems as they gave three runs back and allowed Wesley back into the game. The Lakers regained to runs in the sixth, making it 7-3 heading to the final inning.

     Miles Kelly earned the victory on the hill, going four innings, allowing three Wesley base runners cross the plate while only three were able notch to hits. Pat Brown and Ryan Donovan pitched the final three innings to hold on for the Laker win.

     Myles Kutscher had a double in a pinch-hit situation while Jordan Giller led the team with two RBI. Kutscher, McMullen, Hamilton and Mascari all drove in one run apiece in the contest.
