News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Oswego Cruises Past Utica 15-8

OS Lacross The Oswego State men`s lacrosse team dominated Utica College 15-8 at home on Friday at Laker Soccer Field. With the win, Oswego improves to 4-2 on the year while the Pioneers fall to 4-4.

Oswego sprinted out to a 9-1 lead and never looked back. Utica was able to keep the Lakers off the board in the second period and cut the advantage to 9-5 at the half. That trend did not last long as Oswego scored just nine seconds into the third quarter and tallied three unanswered goals in the period. The two teams would play an even final quarter, with each squad notching three goals.

Cody Hoose led the Lakers on the afternoon, scoring a game-high four goals which also set a new career-mark for the junior. Torry Whitcher was next in the goals column, sending three past the Pioneers' goaltender while distributing an assist on another Lakers score.

Nick Giampaolo had a consistent contest, putting up two tallies while passing out two helpers.

Oswego received a great outing between the pipes by freshman Wyatt Russo, who stopped 16 Utica attempts on the day.

In the X, Troy Crevier was solid, winning 15-of-21 faceoffs. As a team, Oswego was 16-for-26 from the faceoff circle while the Lakers were 15-for-21 on clears. Oswego took advantage when Utica was whistled on penalties, going 3-for-8 in extra-man opportunities while the Pioneers were just 1-for-10.

The Lakers also held a distinct advantage on ground balls, outdoing Utica by nine (35-26).

Oswego will return to action at 4 p.m. on Tuesday when it hosts Clarkson University in a nonconference matchup.
