News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Oswego-es as Shattuck Goes in Win Over Fredonia

The Oswego State women's lacrosse team continued its great start to league play with a 12-10 win over Fredonia at Laker Turf Stadium on Friday afternoon. Oswego improves to 4-1 in the SUNYAC and 6-5 overall while the Blue Devils drop to 2-11 on the year and 1-3 in conference action.

Fredonia jumped out to a 4-2 advantage early in the first half before the Lakers took control with a six-goal spurt. The Blue Devils tallied one before the half to leave Oswego with an 8-5 margin at half. Oswego held off a second-half push by Fredonia to grab the 12-10 victory.

Theresa Shattuck had herself a day, notching a game-high five goals along with a contest-best six assists. The sophomore's second and third goals were important as they jump-started the six-goal run on her way to 11 points. Toni Laneve nearly matched her classmate's goal output, notching four goals for the second-most in the tilt. Senior Kendall Appelbaum was next with two goals of her own while Montana Garrett rounded out the Laker scoring with one tally.

On the draw, Shattuck led the way with four while Kelsey Henderson had the other three of Oswego's seven controls. The defense was active with five Lakers causing a turnover, including Henderson, Laneve, Garrett, Danielle Walker and Marisa Engelbrecht.

Angela Ponto earned the triumph in net with seven saves while tying with Laneve for a team-high four ground balls.

Oswego will return to the field at 4 p.m. on Tuesday as they travel to Geneseo to start a three-game road trip to conclude the regular season.
