News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Oswego State swimming and diving swept by Geneseo

OS Swim and DiveThe Oswego State swimming and diving teams fell to the defending SUNYAC champion Geneseo Blue Knights Saturday, Jan. 26, to close out the home portion of their schedule.

On the men's side the Lakers were defeated by a score of 146-139, while the Geneseo women topped Oswego State 158-114.
Andrew Minnick (Jr., Latham, N.Y.) had a stellar meet, capturing three first place finishes for the Lakers. Minnick began the day with an impressive victory in the 200 freestyle, posting a time of 1:49.94. He added to his win total later in the meet with victories in the 500 freestyle (5:05.99) as well as the 200 IM (2:07.97).
Adam Weber (Sr., Clarence, N.Y.) was victorious in his final individual race at Laker Hall, clocking a winning time of 2:05.00 in the 200 backstroke. Zachary Gerber (Fr., Oswego, N.Y.) also turned in a winning effort in the 100 butterfly (57.47).
Katie Flood (Jr., Hastings-on-the-Hudson, N.Y.) had yet another outstanding meet for the Oswego women. Flood touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.52. She also took first place in the 200 IM, clocking in at 2:26.57.
The Lakers had a number of other individual event winners on the women's side. Emily Doe (Fr., Dansville, N.Y.) turned in a winning time of 57.28 in the 100 freestyle. Laurie Jackson (Jr., Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) won the 500 freestyle (5:45.09) and Sabia Filiaci (So., Schenectady, N.Y.) took first in the 100 butterfly (1:02.31).
The Lakers ended the meet on high notes, earning victories in the men's and women's 200 freestyle relays. Flood and Doe teamed up with Emily Plummer (Sr., Horseheads, N.Y.) and Ashley Rode (Jr., Hilton, N.Y.) to turn in a winning time of 1:46.90. Adam Weber joined Austin Nau (Fr., Rochester, N.Y.), Matt Pamlanye (Jr., Holbrook, N.Y.) and Benjamin Palais (Jr., Rye, N.Y.) to post a time of 1:32.81.
Prior to the meet, this year's senior class was honored by their coaches and teammates. These three swimmers are Adam Weber, Emily Plummer and Emily Griffin (Sr., White Plains, N.Y.). The Oswego State swimming and diving teams will surely miss this trio of athletes next year, as they made valuable contributions to the program both in the pool and out of it.
The Lakers will return to action next Saturday, Feb. 2, as they travel to Potsdam to face the Bears.
