The Oswego State golf team nabbed first place of its own 18th annual fall tournament, shooting a 316 on Monday afternoon at Oswego Country Club. Oswego edged Potsdam in the 11-team field, with the Bears shooting a 318 in a runner-up performance.
On Monday, the Lakers were led by a pair of seniors and a junior-transfer, as captains Dan North and Tyler Wurzer, along with Corey Marshall, each shot 78. That total was just three strokes off the top individual score, as SUNY Delhi's Ray Schott was the medalist with a 75. Three other players tied for second with a 77, putting the trip of Lakers in a tie for fifth.
Rounding out the scoring for Oswego's winning squad were Stuart Winn and Nick Gramagulia, shooting an 82 and 85, respectively.
Oswego also entered a second team in the field, which placed fifth with a 327, trailing only the winner, runner-up and two groups from SUNY Delhi. That Laker five-man team was led by Aaron Idding's 80.
The Lakers will try to continue it's winning way at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29 when they take part in the 44th Annual Elmira College Invitational.
