Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Oswego`s Bates Get Hot in Second Game of DH with Fredonia

    OS Baseball The Oswego State baseball team struggled to generate runs in a loss to Fredonia in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday but the bats woke up the second game, putting up 20 runs in a 16-run win. With the split, Oswego is now 17-8 overall and 9-6 in SUNYAC play.

GAME ONE – Fredonia 7, Oswego 3:

     Fredonia scored four runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth to outdo the Lakers in game one. Oswego tried to make a comeback in the top of the seventh but could only muster three runs in the loss.

     Scott Buniak finished with the Lakers only multiple-hit outing, going 2-for-4. Dan Karleski, Tim Smith and Eric Hamilton had one hit apiece with Karleski and Smith each finishing with a RBI. Karleski and Buniak both had doubles in the game with Karleski swiping a bag as well.

     Myles Kutscher, Michael Mascari and Karleski all crossed the plate one time.

     Miles Kelly took the loss to fall to 4-2 on the year, throwing five innings. Kelly surrendered four earned runs on 10 hits, striking out two while walking another.

GAME TWO – Oswego 20, Fredonia 4:

     After struggling to generate runs in the first game, the Oswego bats awoke in game two, going for 18 hits and 20 runs in a 16-run victory.

     The Lakers had 11 different batters register hits in the game, including six with multiple-hit contests. Kyle Line led the way by going 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and three runs scored. Karleski, Smith, Tyler Baker, Jordan Giller and Zach Kollar each finished with two hits.

     Smith and Dan Saccocio drove in the most runs for the Lakers, collecting three RBI apiece. Buniak drove in two teammates while Kutscher, Mascari, Kollar, Karleski, Liner and Matt Capobianco each had one RBI.

     Tim Cronin remained perfect on the hill this season, improving to 4-0 with five innings thrown. Dylan Kohlman tossed three innings in relief while Brandon Schultzkie struck out two in an inning of work. Cronin spread out 10 hits and surrendered four runs while Kohlman and Shultzkie did not let up any damage, combining to allow just two hits in four innings.

     Oswego will be back in action at 2 p.m. on Tuesday when it travels to Cazenovia College to take on the Wildcats.
