The Oswego State women's track field team finished eighth out of eight at the SUNYAC Championships on Saturday at Brockport. Despite the finish, Oswego saw strong performances out of both Marissa Pariseau and in the relays.
Day1:
Kicking off the night for Oswego was Pariseau, who won her heat and set a new indoor best in the 400-meter (59.14), qualifying her for a spot in Saturday's final. Closing out day one, the Distance Medley Relay team of Katie Laris (1200), Kristen Harrigan (400), Sylvia Pericles (800) and Sarah Popovitch (1,600) ran to within two seconds of the school record in the 4,000 meter relay. In the event, Popovitch's split of 5:16 in the 1,600 was the third fastest split of all anchors in the race.
Day 2:
Pariseau entered the weekend ranked eighth in the conference in the 400, but in Saturday's finale, Pariseau won her section of the race, taking fourth overall and improving upon her conference standing. In the field events, Harrigan entered the meet as a wild card, but jumped a season best 5.16 in the long jump, qualifying for finals and missing scoring by just one place, taking ninth overall. The Lakers closed out the meet in the 4x400 relay, running an ECAC qualifying season best time of 4:03.52 to take the bronze medal in third place.
Women's track and field will return to action on Saturday at the ECAC Championships in New York City's New Balance Track and Field Center.
