The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Oswego State's Daniel Rodriguez as the Men's Swimmer of the Week and Meghan Maquet as the Women's Diver of the Week for the week ending on Oct. 22.
On Wednesday against Rochester Institute of Technology, Rodriguez placed first in two of the three events he swam in, finishing second in the remaining event. The sophomore collected a win with a time of 10:13.06 in the 1000-yard free and earned another victory with a time of 4:58.95 in the 500-yard free. Rodriguez's performance helped the men's team secure a 122-119 win over R.I.T. During Saturday's 139-92 victory over Oneonta, the Madrid native took the top spot in the same events.
In Oswego's season opener on Wednesday, Maquet placed first in the 1-meter dive with a score of 203.90. The second place score in the event was over 15 points below Maquet's. In the women's 128-115 win over Oneonta, Maquet was dominant again. The sophomore finished with a score of 197.95 in the 3-meter dive to claim first place again.
Next, the men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Wells College to compete at 1 p.m. on Oct. 21.
