News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Women's Ice Hockey Loses at Potsdam

The Oswego State women's ice hockey team traveled to Potsdam on Sunday for a rescheduled game, falling to the Bears 3-1. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 7-8 on the year and 4-4 in the NEWHL while Potsdam improves to 9-5-1, 2-5-1.

Neither team was able to score in the opening period but the Bears were able to gain control with two goals in the middle period. Potsdam added another goal at 9:19 of the third on a power-play but Oswego answer a little more than four minutes later. Senior Sarah Grupp scored her second goal of the season – and the fourth of her career – off passes from classmate Monica Cramer and freshman Emma Morrisette at 13:46. Despite cutting the margin back to two, the Lakers could not close the gap any further before the final horn.

Oswego had opportunities throughout the game but could not cash in as it was 0-for-5 on extra-skate opportunities. Potsdam's final tally came on the power-play, making it 1-for-3 on the evening.

In net, Mariah Madrigal played in just her second game since nearly a two month layoff due to injury. After getting the 4-1 win over the Bears at home on Friday in her return to the crease, the senior stopped 23 shots on Sunday as her record slipped to 4-3-0 on the year.

Oswego will play a rare mid-week nonconference back-to-back for its next outings, as it travels to Plymouth State University at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and follows that with another tilt against the Panthers at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
