News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Women's Ice Hockey Makes 2018-19 Slate Public

The Oswego State women's ice hockey has released its 2018-19 slate to the public. Oswego's campaign will feature 25 games and one exhibition – 13 of which will take place in the state-of-the-art Marano Campus Center Arena.

It all begins at 3 p.m. on Oct. 20 when the London Jr. Devilettes visit the Lakers for an exhibition. The regular-season starts the following week with a pair of games in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. On Oct. 27, Oswego will visit King's College before traveling less than a mile down the road to face Wilkes University the next day.

November kicks off after a week of preparation by concluding a four-game road trip to start the season and opening the Northeast Women's Hockey League (NEWHL) when Oswego visits Buffalo State for back-to-back games on Nov. 9 and 10. The regular-season, home-opener is at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16 against NEWHL-foe Cortland. That Saturday, Oswego heads down to Cortland to face the Red Dragons with another 7 p.m. start time.

On the final day of November and the first day of December, Oswego will host perennial power Plattsburgh at 3 p.m. each day. Two nonconference matchups will close out the fall semester, as the Lakers travel to Clinton, N.Y. on Dec. 7 to face Hamilton College before going to Amherst College in Massachusetts on Dec. 8.

Oswego will open the New Year with a rare neutral site game, as it faces first-year program Nazareth College at 4 p.m. on Jan. 8 at the Allyn Ice Arena in Skaneateles, N.Y. The men's programs for both institutions will face each other that night in the same venue.

NEWHL action resumes with a home-and-home weekend with Potsdam, going to the North Country on Jan. 11 before returning home the next night.

A pair of nonconference home games with Plymouth State on Jan. 16 and 17 precedes five-straight conference meetings.

The string of league tilts starts with a pair of games at Plattsburgh on Jan. 25 and 26. Buffalo State then comes to town for the first two days of February, with both contests starting at 3 p.m. The five-game stretch closes with a unique Wednesday matchup at 7 p.m. when the Red Dragons of Cortland host Oswego.

Williams College visits campus for the Lakers' final nonconference matchups of the year, playing on Feb. 9 and 10.

Cortland then returns the Wednesday favor with a 7 p.m. battle on Feb. 13 in the Marano Campus Center Arena. Two days later, Potsdam visits the Port City for a 7 p.m. puck drop before the two squads head north for the regular-season finale at 3 p.m. on Feb. 16.

The postseason is set to begin with the NEWHL Championship, whose semifinals round is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 23.
