News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Fulton Police Department Continues To Combat Aggressive Driving

The City of Fulton Police Department is continuing its efforts to combat aggressive driving throughout the month of July and August, with focused enforcement along State Route 3 and State Route 481 within the city.

Thanks to funding from our partners at the New York State Governors Traffic Safety Board and their “100 Days of Summer” campaign, the department will continue to conduct targeted traffic details aimed at curbing dangerous behaviors such as passed red lights, speeding, following too closely, unsafe lane changes, and failure to yield.

Lieutenant Jarrett Marino has worked with Oswego County STOP DWI Coordinator David Hall to secure funding dedicated to these enforcement efforts. Officers will be deployed during strategic timeframes based on crash data and community concerns to enhance visibility and promote safer driving habits on these high-traffic roadways.

“These traffic details are part of our ongoing commitment to keep our roads safe,” said Chief Michael Curtis. “Aggressive driving continues to be a major contributor to serious crashes, and with the help of this grant funding, we can take proactive steps to reduce those risks.”

Since June 1st the Fulton Police Department has issued nearly 400 traffic tickets, with half of those being issued during the “100 Days of Summer” designated dates and times.

Motorists traveling through Fulton are urged to drive with caution and be mindful of increased enforcement presence throughout the remainder of the summer and into the fall of 2025.
