News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

United Way Day of Caring Benefits OCO

Volunteers and several local businesses donated their time and talents and displayed the true spirit of the United Way’s “Day of Caring.”

The event demonstrates that volunteerism generates positive relationships between businesses, human service agencies, and community members.

Rich Burritt of Burritt Motors collaborated with Oswego County Opportunities (OCO) and The United Way of Greater Oswego County to make it a true “Days of Caring” event.

Burritt assembled a spirited team of employees and community members and spearheaded a project that consisted of a full day of work and helped to beautify OCO’s Oswego Head Start location at Fort Ontario and the OCO Health Center at 10 George Street in Oswego. OCO’s Health Center houses a number of women’s health programs, including the agency’s Reproductive Health and WIC programs.

“It was an amazing day,” said OCO Development Coordinator Bridget Dolbear. “The group spent the entire day and did an amazing job at both locations! They worked hard trimming trees and shrubs, landscaping grounds, planting flowers, painting and repairing the sign, and power washing the exterior. They also provided a bench and potted plants for the entrance way to the Health Center.

I can’t thank Rich and everyone involved enough for all that they did. None of which would have been possible if not for the generosity of Rich, the staff at Burritt Motors, and the United Way of Greater Oswego County.”

After almost six decades OCO continues to have a positive impact on the lives of those it serves. The agency’s “Thrive in ’25: From Hardship to Hope” initiative focuses on empowering individuals to become their best selves by providing support programs and critical resources such as those offered at Head Start and OCO’s Oswego Health Center.
