Margaret Joyce Elliott Stock, 87, passed away on February 1, 2026.
Born in Gloucestershire, England on April 26, 1938, Margaret was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Elliott. In her early years, she lived in London and worked as a hairdresser, where she took pride in styling many famous people's hair.
She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Thomas Adrian Cheetham Stock, known as "TACS," who preceded her in death in 1996. Together with their first daughter Jane, they moved from England to Australia where their daughters Amanda and Sarah were born. The family later moved to Canada, where their son Matthew was born, before eventually settling in Oswego, New York.
Margaret’s life was shaped by significant personal losses, including the death of their first daughter, Jane, to cancer in her first year of life. While she often carried a sense of sadness, she found quiet fulfillment in creative endeavors and personal interests; she was an avid reader and knitter, and she enjoyed pottery, bird watching and gardening. Margaret cherished her friends and was known for her warmth, always making time for a long chat or a shared cup of tea.
Margaret is survived by her brother Roger and his wife Rosalind Elliott (Wales) and her children: Amanda Hurlbutt and her husband Paul, Sarah Stock, and Matthew Stock. She was a proud grandmother or “Yaya” to Emily and Nick Hurlbutt, and Alex, Kiera, and Aidan Patterson. Above all, her love for her children and grandchildren was the constant thread in her life, providing her with her greatest sense of purpose and pride, accompanied by her little dog, Harvey.
