FitzGibbons Insurance owner, John FitzGibbons, sponsors the "FitzGibbons Insurance Athletes of the Month," in cooperation with the Oswego Buccaneer Booster Club. The January Oswego High School "Athletes of the Month" were hockey goalie Madisyn Whalen and bowler Matt Clemons. Each received a $25 gift certificate for the Oswego Tea Company, in Oswego. Buccaneer Booster President Judy Queale-Dunsmoor presented the certificates along FitzGibbons.

The students at Trinity Catholic School kicked off their third Annual Jump Rope for Heart Campaign Wednesday, Feb. 13.
Oswego hurdler Cory Keefe is bound for the New York State Track and Field Championships while the boys' hockey, girls' basketball and boys' basketball teams prep for Section III Tournament action. Both the boys' teams are home on Friday night, Feb. 15.
It was "Think Pink Day" at Fitzhugh Park Elementary School (FPS) on Valentine's Day. The FPS Student Council asked all students were asked to wear red or pink to celebrate the day. Students from every grade level gathered together to proudly display their support of the day. The Frederick Leighton Elementary School Student Council was busy this Valentine season filling candy-grams. Students sent each other and teachers' messages with a sweet treat attached. All proceeds will be given to the Golisano Children's Hospital, in Syracuse.
Sue Bertsch, a Constellation Community Council member, presents $2,000 to Oswego High School technology teacher Matthew Bock. The money will be used to purchase parts and tools for the completion of an all-electric vehicle that the students hope to be able to enter in competition. The funds will also assist to cover travel expenses and entry fees.
It turned out to be a memorable senior night, Feb. 11, for the Oswego varsity boys' basketball team while the Lady Bucs basketball squad preps for post season play and one Buc wrestler came home third in championship mat action.
The Lady Bucs bowling team earned a berth in the Section III Tournament while the hockey team tied visiting Cazenovia and the jayvee girls' basketball team won again.
