News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Second-Straight Double-Digit Win for Men's Lacrosse

OS Lacross

The Oswego State men's lacrosse team defeated Alfred State 17-3 on Friday evening at Cazenovia College on Christakos Field. The win improves the team's record to 5-3 on the season. Alfred State drops to 0-10 overall.

The team controlled possession for a majority of the game, leading to a season high 55 shots attempted. Twelve different Lakers scored on the day, including Billy Gerstner, Zach Anderson, who each notched their first of the season. Tyler Nason tied for a team lead in goals on the day with three, bringing his season total to eight.

Senior attackman Nick Giampaolo played a key role in the win, scoring three first half goals in route to a 10-1 halftime lead. Giampaolo also played the role of distributor, adding an assist to bring his points total to a team-high four.

Oswego dominated the Pioneers at the dot, winning 17-of-24 faceoffs, with the attempts being split between Troy Crevier (9-of-11) and Chase Izyk (8-of-13).

Defense also played a huge role in the game, as Alfred State struggled to put quality shots on net, managing just 17 total shots in the game. Wyatt Russo spent the first three quarters in the net, racking up four saves. He was then relieved in the final period by Kevin LaMantia who collected one save.

Men's lacrosse will take the field again at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when it travels to Potsdam to take on the Bears in a SUNYAC matchup.
