
The Oswego State women's cross country team placed fourth in a talented field at the Lafayette College Leopard Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Of the five teams at the event, three were Division I competing schools and the other was conference-foe and nationally-ranked Cortland.
As a team, Oswego compiled a 2:09:18.8 time, averaging 25:51.62 per runner in the 6K. Five of the Lakers finished in the top half of the field, beginning with junior Karlee Duffer's team-best 20th finish (24:26.64). Inside the top 25 were both Sarah Popovitch (25:46.03) and Katie Laris (25:47.13), who finished just over a second apart.
Newcomer Morgan Bronner finished in 28th place with a time of 26:08.53. Coming in right behind Bronner was senior teammate Sammy Bielli, crossing the finish line in 26:09.75.
Oswego will be back on the course on Saturday, November 1 when it travels to Brockport to compete in the 2014 SUNYAC Championship.
