Men's Soccer Falls to Nationally-Ranked Franklin and Marshall

Men's Soccer Falls to Nationally-Ranked Franklin and Marshall

The Oswego State men's soccer team dropped its contest to the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats, 2-0, on Friday evening. The Lakers are now even at 2-2 on the season whereas the No. 12 Diplomats improve to 3-0-1.

Both teams game out firing on goal as they collected a combined five shots in the first 10 minutes of competition. Shortly after, the Laker aggression fell slightly while the Diplomats continued forcing shots.

Goalie Evan Bogucki held tough in his second-career start and kept each dagger Franklin & Marshall sent out of the goal until the 43rd minute. He finished with six saves on eight shots-on-goal faced.

Mitch Brickman put a strong shot-on-goal shortly after the opposing score and just over a minute prior to the half. The Rochester, N.Y. native took a chance at the net, but it was just saved.

Oswego's defense kept the Diplomats honest throughout the majority of the second half. Over the course of the 90 minutes, they managed a barrage of 21 shots. Twelve of these came in the second 45; the Lakers only saw two shots of 21 slip by.

Harrison Rieber attempted to mount a last-minute comeback. Prior to nationally-ranked Diplomats nabbed an insurance goal, the Jericho, N.Y. native lofted a shot from the 18-yard line. The ball soared through the air and directly into the goalie's hands.

The squad will take the field again on Saturday in the Keystone State for a matchup with the Messiah Falcons at 7 p.m.
