The Oswego State men`s basketball team fell 78-64 in a conference matchup at Brockport on Friday night. It is the first time in the 2013-14 season that the Lakers have dropped back-to-back contests. With the loss, Oswego is now 10-4 overall with a 4-3 SUNYAC mark.
The two teams played the first half to a stalemate with the score sitting at 37-37 at the break. Brockport would take control of the game coming out of the locker rooms, however, opening the half on a 13-0 run over the first 2:27.
Oswego would not fold, quickly countering with a 12-3 run of its own to cut the Golden Eagle lead to four-points at 53-49 with 13:13 left in regulation. The Lakers could never pull any closer than the four-point margin, with Brockport eventually gaining a double-digit advantage at 7:13 that it would never relinquish.
Daniel Ross led Oswego with 19 points, including 6-for-6 from the foul line. Also scoring in double digits were Kyle Covley (13) and Brian Sortino (10).
Covley was 5-for-8 (62.5%) from the field and 3-for-5 (60.0%) from beyond the arc.
On the glass, Mark Cadelario paced the Lakers with 12 rebounds while Rashawn Powell added 10. Powell also finished with eight points.
Oswego will return to action at 8 p.m. on Saturday when Geneseo comes to campus for a SUNYAC contest.
