Melissa Seamont (North Bay, Ontario), a junior on the women's ice hockey team, and Michael Gentilcore (Rochester, N.Y.), a junior wrestler, have been named the Oswego State Athletes of the Week for the week ending Nov. 4.
Seamont played a pivotal role in Oswego State's first win of the young season, a 5-3 win over Utica, as she logged nearly 30 minutes of ice time over the course of the game.She set the tone for the Lakers early with her first goal of the season coming just 1:11 into the contest. She assisted the second goal as well. Seamont posted her second goal of the game in the final minute with an empty net, power-play goal to seal Oswego
State's first victory.
Gentilcore led the wrestling team to a fifth place finish in the nine-team Ithaca Invitational by taking first place at 141 pounds, defeating a freshman teammate in the finals.Gentilcore registered pins in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds to advance to the finals, which he won by decision.In his first match of the Invite, Gentilcore topped Brendon Morgan of third-place overall Springfield. The team result was a two-position improvement on last year's 7th-place finish at Ithaca.
