The men`s and women`s track and field teams competed at the SUNYAC Championship hosted by The College at Brockport on Saturday.
Matt Wagenhauser once again helped pace the team, taking home his first indoor conference championship in the 400. The junior, ranked 21st in the nation, raced to his second best time of the season, winning the event in a time of 49.62.
Andrew Baldwin, also competing in the seeded section of the 400, took home 4th place in the event, with a time of 51.35.
The two would once again pair up with Brandon Comden, who ran a lifetime best 7.29 in the dash to take 12th, and Nick Reinsdorf in the 4x400 relay. In an incredible race that saw several lead changes, the men were able to outkick Oneonta across the line, taking second with a new school record of 3:22.32, which moves the team into the top 8 for next week's ECAC Championship in Boston.
In the distance events, senior Damian Archie ran 10 second beyond his indoor lifetime best to move up four spots in the 5,000 scoring an 8th place finish in the event with a time of 15:34.61.
Chris Bridgewater, may have just missed the school record in the triple jump, but his lifetime best leap of 14.18 (46'6.25") was strong enough to move him up to 3rd on the day, taking home bronze in the event.
Freshmen wild cards Adam Crumb and Tyler Morris also performed above their seeds. The first competitor of the day, Crumb opened up the meet for the Lakers by breaking the 21-foot barrier in the long jump. Morris recorded a 15 second lifetime best in the 5,000, running 15:55.13.
Within the span of 60 minutes, the women's team racked up 19 points in the team scoring, led by Katie Bott's school record breaking 4th place finish in the 400 (59.08). Junior Marissa Pariseau came in right on her heels, finishing with an indoor best time of her own, 59.53 to take 5th.
Bott wasted no time getting back to work, as she would take home her first SUNYAC Championship in the 800, winning the event in a time of 2:19.29.
Both Bott and Pariseau teamed up with junior Kristen Harrigan and freshman Valeria Kudinov to reset their own school record in the 4x400 relay, taking 4th with a time of 4:02.82. That time moved the quartet up to 17th on the ECAC list. The women's Distance Medley also factored in to the scoring, placing 5th.
In the field events, freshman Abbie Boyce and senior Sarah Wellington both delivered impressive performances in the jumps. Boyce's triple jump of 10.53m (34'6") was good enough to place her in 12th in the league. Wellington's vault of 2.70m was a 6" lifetime best, pushing her 5 spots past her seed to finish 14th on the day.
