News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Heather Pierson Trio to Play HarborFest on Saturday

Write a comment

The Trio are well known for their beloved annual Charlie Brown Christmas tour, wherein they present their interpretations of the work of the late great jazz pianist and composer Vince Guaraldi.

HarborFest attendees can catch the trio live in a free concert on the Jazz/Blues Stage at East Park / Washington Square on Saturday, July 26 at 1:15pm.

Heather Pierson is a singer/songwriter, pianist, songleader, and performer with a passion for cultivating joy and harmony. Her live performances feature her ease at the piano and her voice that Americana Highways says 'sounds like timeless wind moving slowly through the trees.' Heather's September 2024 release, Back To The Light, reached #1 on the Contemporary Folk charts and was deemed 'flawless from beginning to end' by Steel Notes Magazine.

With bassist Shawn Nadeau and drummer Craig Bryan, Heather shares the traditions of New Orleans, the beauty of Appalachia, and a healthy dose of Sunday-go-to-meeting celebration. Whether playing stride piano, strumming her late father's Gibson, or singing the blues, the many iterations of Heather Pierson unite in a singularly warm and genuine presence, both onstage and off.

Aimsel Ponti of the Portland Press Herald said of Pierson: "There's a real pureness to her voice as she leads us through intimate corners of her experiences and tells stories with a Joni Mitchell kind of edge... Her hands float on and above the piano keys... as if it's as second nature as breathing."
