News from the Assembly Minority Leader

Statement From Assembly Minority Leader Will Barclay

Will Barclay

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided that I will not seek re-election to the 120th Assembly District. I intend to step down as Minority Leader in the coming days, allowing for a smooth transition to new leadership early in the legislative session.

Students and staff at the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation came together on Sept. 11 to remember and honor the lives lost in the 2001 terrorist attacks 24 years prior.

The ceremony was organized by the Career and Technical Education Public Safety program and two ceremonies were held — one in the morning and another in the afternoon — to ensure all CiTi students, along with staff and administration, could take part in the tribute.

Instructors of Public Safety, Jon Chawgo and Charles Searor Jr., ran the event and discussed the importance of marking the infamous date in American history along with all the bravery and heroes who responded and stepped up to help those in need.

“We are extremely proud to hold this ceremony and honor those no longer with us every year,” said CiTi CTE Principal Michael Thurlow. “It's an important lesson for our children to learn and hear about, and our Public Safety students always put on a memorable, professional ceremony. Thanks to all who helped make it run smoothly this year - we will never forget."

Through reflection and remembrance, CiTi students joined communities across the nation in reaffirming the importance of courage, unity and remembering the events of 9/11.
