The Oswego State men's lacrosse team opened its SUNYAC portion of the schedule with a 14-3 loss to Plattsburgh on Saturday afternoon at Laker Turf Stadium. With the blemish, the Lakers are now 3-6 on the year while the Cardinals go to 6-3.
Plattsburgh scored the tilt's first two goals but Oswego answered with Kyle Bacon's 15th tally of the year from Jarrod Wilkom at 4:46 of the first. The Cardinals were able to notch three more goals before the end of the first to hold a 5-1 lead. Bacon scored the contest's next goal at 7:42 of the second quarter, this time with help from freshman classmate Tim Schoff. After Plattsburgh made it a 6-2 advantage, the Lakers scored what turned out to be their final with 1:03 left in the half. The goal came from Wilkom, his 15th of the year and second point of the game.
On defense, Teddy Phillips had a solid effort, causing a game-high two Plattsburgh turnovers to go along with a contest-best seven ground balls. Bacon was close behind, scooping up six ground balls. Ben Roberts finished with the other Laker caused turnover.
Wyatt Russo stopped eight Cardinal shots in the loss.
Oswego will continue conference action in its next game when it hosts Geneseo at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
