As back-to-school season arrives, eight-year-old Lyncoln O’Neill has quite the story to tell about his summer.
Last month, Lyncoln found his mom, Destiny, unconscious in the midst of a medical emergency. He quickly took control, using his mother’s phone to call 911 and explaining the situation to the operator while also caring for his four-year-old sister Penny. “My mom passed out... I think my mom had a seizure.” He couldn’t remember his address, but emergency workers worked with Lyncoln to narrow down his location and were on the scene within less than five minutes. He can be heard repeatedly telling his sister to stay with their mom on the 911 call while he walks outside to locate the officer on scene, encouraging his mom to stay still as she recovered, and giving her pillows to make her more comfortable.
On Thursday evening, this young boy’s heroic actions were celebrated with a Life-Saving Award given by the Phoenix Fire Department, a Phoenix Police Patch, a Phoenix Fire Department Badge, a pizza party, gifts from fire department members, and more in a ceremony attended by his mom and other family members.
Because of his ability to think clearly and act promptly during an emergency, his mom was able to get the care she needed and is doing well today.
We are honored to have such a brave and empathetic young boy as a part of our community. From all of us at iHeart Oswego, thank you for being exactly who you are!
